Wireless Point to Point Communication System Design Considerations

Solid understanding of wireless point to point communication systems is critical in enabling the data rates and capacity of 5G cellular networks. A microwave backhaul system is chosen to illustrate the architecture choices related to clocking, frequency planning and signal path design. Techniques to achieve a 4KQAM constellation while enabling MIMO and carrier aggregation at microwave frequencies will be discussed. The transmitter’s link budget analysis will be presented as a case study to appreciate the nuances of this system. The interactive talk will conclude with a discussion on the role of adaptive digital pre-distortion (DPD) in optimizing the system’s performance.
