Plenary Poster: Full-Duplex Phased Arrays: Multi-Function Applications and Enabling Technologies

High-performance radar systems utilize phased arrays to maximize their link budgets by focusing antenna radiation in a specific direction. While traditional systems have limited their operation to purely radar functions, future designs are being tasked with concurrently supporting additional wireless applications, such as communications and spectrum sensing. This multi-function array usage scenario introduces complex resource scheduling challenges, which can be alleviated by incorporating in-band full-duplex (IBFD) operation. This poster highlights a compelling IBFD-array architecture and the critical technologies that require maturation before scalable-IBFD arrays become a reality.
