Load-Impedance-Aware EIRP Calibration in FR2 Phased Arrays

Transmit power control by calibrating the on-chip power detectors in millimeter-wave phased array beamforming ICs, especially in the mobile-class is challenging due to the variation of the antenna loading across the array owing to active S-parameters. This paper presents an in-situ technique that can deliver load-impedance agnostic calibration to estimate the transmit effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP) while not relying on over-the-air (OTA) measurements.
