Near-to-Far Field Pattern Correlation Methodology for Array Antennas Using Active Probe Antenna Arrays
The fast and accurate characterization of array antennas based on near-field measurements, is essential for the production of antenna arrays in an industrial setting. Based on this motivation an active probe antenna array (PAS) system is presented, which allows the characterization and reconstruction of far-field patterns based on near-field measurements. The construction and operation of the active PAS is shown and discussed. Additionally, the highly accurate correlation between near-field and far-field and the necessary prior information about the far-field will be explained. Finally, a specific probe array design for different frequency ranges and spacing of DUT antenna elements is discussed in this workshop. Each probe features dual polarization and has separate, coaxial outputs. Detuning of DUT antenna elements and coupling between probes will also be discussed.
