Highly Efficient and Linear mm-Wave Power Amplifiers for 5G FR2 Communication
mm-Wave has gained popularity due its wide bandwidth and smaller footprint. However, mm-wave designs have many challenges, especially for the design of wideband power amplifiers. For example, antenna and RF system designs must overcome the poor propagation due to high path losses. In addition, the mm-wave RFIC design must deal with HW process limitations such as fmax/ft/skin-effect, and analog design must deal with wide-band operation. In this workshop presentation, we will briefly cover mm-wave 5G FR2 solutions as well as various practical PA design methodologies for linearity and efficiency enhancement techniques, such as load-modulation and digital pre-distortion.
