mm-Wave Doherty PA with Bandwidth Enhancement Techniques for 5G and Beyond

To address the exponential growth in data rate and capacity demand, wireless communication is evolving towards 5G and beyond. This poses stringent requirements on RF front-ends, particularly PAs, in terms of bandwidth, efficiency, and linearity. The Doherty PA is a popular efficiency enhancement technique. This talk reviews its concept and key elements and analyzes the design challenges and its operation bandwidth limit at mm-wave. Design techniques, recent research progress and trends for mm-wave CMOS Doherty PAs for 5G and beyond will be discussed.
