Frequency-Domain Characterization of Millimeter-Wave FMCW Signal Based on a Precisely Synchronized NVNA Measurement Setup

A precisely synchronized nonlinear vector network analyzer (NVNA) measurement setup is developed to characterize millimeter-wave frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) signals in the frequency domain. Thanks to the use of multisine phase reference and pulsed-RF phase calibration standards, such NVNA setup is validated for dense-spectral-grid millimeter-wave modulated measurement, and is confirmed applicable to the characterization of FMCW signals. The performance of proposed frequency-domain method is experimentally inspected at 24.15 GHz, where a real-time oscilloscope is also used for measurement comparison.
