Prototype Design of Airborne Antenna System for HAPS Backhaul Networks Using 100GHz Band Frequency

This paper focuses on the design and validation of wireless communication between a ground station and HAPS, employing the 100 GHz band as a higher frequency range. To compensate for the increased radio propagation loss resulting from the use of a higher frequency band, we will explore the application of a high-gain, smaller reflector antenna suitable for mounting on HAPS. We have developed a prototype reflector antenna with a diameter of 0.3 m, achieving a gain of 45 dBi. The feasibility of HAPS backhaul systems operating in the 100 GHz band has been confirmed through data transmission experiments conducted at a distance of 20 m using the prototype antenna.
